MBBS Abroad — Complete Guide 2026

Everything you need to know about studying MBBS abroad — eligibility, fees, admission process, top countries, and how MED EDUTECH GLOBAL helps you every step of the way.

Why Students Choose MBBS Abroad

Every year, over 20,000 Indian students choose to pursue MBBS abroad due to limited seats in Indian medical colleges, exorbitant fees in private colleges, and the global recognition of foreign degrees. Studying MBBS abroad offers a world-class medical education at a fraction of the cost — with the opportunity to return to India and practice after clearing the FMGE/NEXT examination.

Countries like Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, and China host hundreds of NMC-approved, WHO-listed medical universities that welcome Indian students with English-medium programs, affordable fees, and structured support systems.

MED EDUTECH GLOBAL has been guiding Indian students through this journey for over 10 years — from selecting the right country and university to ensuring safe arrival, hostel allocation, and ongoing academic support throughout the 6-year program.

Key Benefits of MBBS Abroad

Discover why thousands of Indian students choose to study medicine overseas every year.

Highly Affordable Fees

Total MBBS cost abroad (₹14–40 Lakhs for 6 years) is dramatically lower than Indian private medical colleges which charge ₹60 Lakhs to ₹1.5 Crore. No donation or capitation fee required.

NMC & WHO Approved

Top universities are approved by India's National Medical Commission (NMC) and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, ensuring your degree is valid for practicing in India after FMGE/NEXT.

English-Medium Programs

Most universities offer MBBS in English for international students, eliminating the language barrier. Basic local language is taught to help with patient interaction during clinical rotations.

No NEET Cutoff Pressure

While NEET qualification is mandatory (as per NMC 2021 regulation), most universities abroad do not have a high NEET score requirement — any qualifying score is accepted, opening doors for many deserving students.

Excellent Clinical Training

Universities are attached to large teaching hospitals with 500–2000 beds, offering practical exposure from the very first year. Hands-on training with real patients from early in the curriculum.

International Exposure

Studying with students from 50+ countries builds global perspective, cultural understanding, and an international network — invaluable assets for a successful medical career in today's interconnected world.

Eligibility & NEET Requirements

Basic Eligibility

  • Completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology as core subjects
  • Minimum 50% aggregate marks in PCB (45% for SC/ST/OBC as per NMC)
  • NEET qualified — any qualifying score accepted by most foreign universities
  • Minimum age 17 years as of December 31st of the admission year
  • Maximum age 25 years (some exceptions apply)
  • Valid Indian Passport (minimum 18 months validity)
  • Medical fitness certificate from a registered physician

NEET — What You Need to Know

NEET is Mandatory

As per NMC Regulations 2021, NEET qualification is compulsory for all Indian students wishing to study MBBS abroad and subsequently practice in India. This is non-negotiable.

No Minimum Score Required

Most foreign universities do NOT have a minimum NEET score requirement — just qualifying the exam is sufficient. This means even students with lower NEET scores can pursue MBBS abroad.

FMGE/NEXT After Return

After completing MBBS abroad, you must clear the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) or the new NEXT exam to practice in India. We provide dedicated coaching for this.

FMGE / NEXT — Practicing in India

What is FMGE?

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is a licensing exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for Indian nationals who have completed MBBS from foreign universities. It is mandatory for practicing medicine in India.

FMGE is conducted twice a year (June & December) and consists of 300 MCQs across all medical subjects. A score of 150 or above (50%) is required to pass. MED EDUTECH GLOBAL provides structured FMGE coaching to all our students.

NEXT — The Future

The National Exit Test (NEXT) is the upcoming unified exam that will replace both FMGE (for foreign graduates) and the final year MBBS exam in India. It aims to create a single, transparent licensing standard across all medical graduates.

NEXT will be conducted in two parts — NEXT Step 1 (theory) and NEXT Step 2 (clinical/practical). Our coaching programs are already updated to cover the NEXT syllabus comprehensively, ensuring our students stay ahead.
